Penicuik were well represented with ‘Les Pois’ a wholly Penicuik team of Moray McHattie, Bob Macdonald, John McAllister and Stephane Marage. Colin Stewart played with his regular ‘IPA’ partners Derek Adam (Inverleith PC) and Istvan Poka (Troon PC).

Les Pois started the day in startling form giving a ‘fanny’ in their first game and were at that point in the lead.  IPA too started well and by lunch (after 3 games) had an unblemished record.

In the end Les Pois won three games and, with a good points difference, took a very creditable 5th place.  IPA won two games in the afternoon and were just pipped into second place at the very last throw of the competition by the impressive and Grand Prix Series winner the Champignons (Mags, Colin and Emma Montgomery from Inverleith).

The progress of Penicuik players is very encouraging.  Penicuik will be represented at the Scottish Masters on 13/14 September by Colin Stewart and Stephane Maurage. Stephane is also competing at the Men’s European Championships in Rome in October.
